Bell Memories
The recent collapse and demolition of the Bell on Leigh Hill is a sad loss. Although derelict for many years the Bell was a significant building leading into the Old Town.
The event has prompted the following memories of that area of Leigh Hill from Corinne Fisher (nee Reynolds)
My aunt used to have the flat above the bathroom shop opposite the bottom of Leigh steps. We used to stay there often as children and the old bridge over the railway line was down the side of that shop. We used to stand on the bridge and dare one another to stay there when the steam train went under. Not very wise.
Do you have any memories of the Bell and its surroundings, if so please tell leigh.lives@btinternet.com
